Dearest Elijah,

you must walk alone for most of the way

I know this is easy for me to say

but you have to decide which shore to reach

and not even I will be able to teach

how you get there safe and sound

but I will always be around

to hold your hand and dry your tears

to hug you tight when you are grabbed by your fears

I will be there to ease your journey and cheer you on

until the last bridge is crossed, the last hurdle gone

you might have broken wings but you can fly

for this to come true, you must give it a try

and many more after that until you succeed one day

so do not give up hope, do not turn away

believe in yourself and who you are

and know that I am never far
