farewell is not good bye

Nearly five years ago we arrived at the door steps of the autism centre in Leipzig not knowing what would lie ahead.  We had an odyssey of hospitals and doctors behind us. Elijah was 2 years and 8 months old when we got the diagnosis F 84.0 Early Childhood Autism.

Today we left that autism centre which played such a big part in our lives and we hope that it was farewell and not good bye even though it feels like it tonight. Elijah, now 8 years old, will start school in September. A special school for special kids but school. It will be a huge change in his routine and there will be new people, children, rooms, routines, tasks, smells and sounds. But we can do it, we can open that new door and walk right through it. Life is an adventure whoever you are.
